Our First Work Day!
This weekend was a big milestone—we hosted our very first work day at the Shiloh Flower Farm, and wow, what an incredible day it was!
With a team made up of family, friends, and some seriously hard-working teens, we got so much done:
Planted beautiful flowers and herbs
Spread mulch
Trimmed limbs and cleared branches
Ran loads to the dump
Weed-whacked, mowed, and more!
The farm is starting to come alive, and it’s all thanks to the joyful energy and sweat poured into the land by this amazing crew. We fueled up with pizza and donuts (a classic combo), and made plenty of sweet memories along the way.
More than just yard work, this day was a picture of what’s to come—a space being transformed to become a place of healing, dignity, and new beginnings for women. We couldn’t be more grateful for each person who showed up and got their hands dirty to help bring this vision to life.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. This is just the beginning!
Great Things Happening - Stay Tuned!
Hello, friends! Welcome to the first of our Farm Updates here at Shiloh Flower Farm. As the days get longer and the air starts to hum with spring, we’re rolling up our sleeves and diving into the season ahead. Here’s what’s happening as we get ready to start:
We’re busy with soil preparation—turning the earth, adding nutrients, and making sure it’s ready to cradle this year’s blooms. Meanwhile, we’re setting up the growing room for starting seeds, a cozy space where tiny green beginnings will soon sprout. And, of course, we’re in the thick of gathering materials and supplies—pots, trays, and all the essentials to keep things growing strong.
To make it all happen, here’s what we need: a tractor for groundwork to tame the fields, and irrigation supplies—we’ll be using drip tape this year to keep our flowers happy and hydrated with just the right touch.
Big things are coming, and we can’t do it alone! We’ll be announcing work days soon, so if you’re local and love getting your hands dirty, keep an eye out for a chance to join us.
Want to follow along as the season unfolds? Subscribe for updates—we’ll keep you posted on every muddy step, first sprout, and blooming milestone.
Here’s to a season full of color and growth!
Happy planting!
Growing Hope
At Shiloh Flower Farm, we’re passionate about using nature to heal and empower. That’s why we’re launching a program to support women coming out of rehab and recovery, helping them rediscover dignity, build skills, and find purpose through gardening.
Here’s why this matters.
Why Gardening?
Gardening offers powerful benefits for women in recovery. Research shows it reduces stress, anxiety, and depression while boosting self-esteem and mood—key for rebuilding after rehab. Working in the soil fosters mindfulness, grounding women in the moment and easing emotional challenges. Studies highlight that community gardening enhances social connection, reducing isolation and building camaraderie, while hands-on tasks like planting and harvesting create a sense of accomplishment and skill development.
For women, these benefits are especially transformative. Studies, including those on horticultural therapy, show gardening helps women on long-term sick leave or in recovery return to work, improve mental health, and feel empowered through tangible achievements—like watching flowers bloom or crops grow. At Shiloh, we believe this can restore dignity, offering women a path to healing through nature.
Our Program: Cultivating Dignity and Strength
We’re building a gardening program where women in recovery can join us in our fields, learning horticultural skills and working together to nurture the land. This isn’t just about plants—it’s about growing confidence, purpose, and community. As participants tend to the garden, they’ll experience the joy of accomplishment and the therapeutic rhythm of farming, supporting their emotional and mental well-being.

We’re in the early stages of this initiative, and we’ll share more soon. Subscribe to the Shiloh Flower Farm Newsletter for updates on our Community Updates, program launches, and ways to support this meaningful work. Together, we can help women bloom again.
